The recent TV show that aired on the Dr. Oz Show on CBS about the danger of LASIK eye surgery is laden with false suggestions and imagery. On the promotional spot for the TV show they even show a woman with bloody eyelids. LASIK does even touch the outer eyelids. Even with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) your eyes would not look like that. I am baffled as to why he would air such a one-sided point of view. LASIK has made millions of people happy.

ASCRS Responds to Dr. Oz's Attack on LASIK

The American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) took the time to make their membership aware of a television program that aired on October 3, 2013 attacking LASIK surgery. The Dr. Oz Show produced a segment that involved interviews with unhappy LASIK patients, and included a story of a patient who committed suicide. A New York ophthalmologist was recruited by the producer and was interviewed on camera. The doctor has informed the ASCRS that he felt blindsided by Dr. Oz and his staff. Upon viewing the segment, it is clear that Dr. Oz presents inaccurate and misleading information about the risks and benefits of LASIK surgery.
